Channel House Oakland

Along with Atlas and Skylyne, Channel House is the third in a series of recent multi-family residential tower projects delivered by Surfacedesign in collaboration with SCB in Oakland. Channel House is part of the redevelopment of the Oakland waterfront industrial district known now as Jack London Square. The landscape design draws inspiration from the site’s history as a shipyard.

Custom planters and lighting covers made from decommissioned rusted steel buoys and elegantly curved Corten fire features serve as formal nautical elements. Sheltered courtyards and a large terrace feature hardscape with a mix of pavers and pebbles, sculptural rusted steel, and planting that provides colorful variation.

A larger, elevated terrace with outdoor dining areas looks out over the marina with seamless connections between indoor and outdoor amenity spaces.
